Remove cable from steering wheel shifter assembly pry off and remove clip same as at tranny. When you have it in D or 3 depending on vehicle model it will start in D1 then shift to D2, then shift to D3 then stay there. Answered on Feb 15, 2018 I stopped to assist a gas powered Winnebago stuck on the highway a while back. It's inside of the gas tank, siphon the gas out before removing the tank, no worries it's a simple job and you'll get it! You aren't gonna make things any worse then it all ready is. Verify continuity between harness from solenoid and round connector on right side trans, if ok replace solenoid. It slipes in overdrive, the fluid looks good. Don't forget to examine tha battery also. Ive changed the input and output sensors and fluid.
My friend said that when it happened the second time he completely disassembled the transmission. Come to a complete stop,taking off,once again steady acceleration through all the gears, but loses speed whenever it has to downshift back to 3rd gear. The problem turned out to be a plugged muffler which seriously reduced the air flow to the intake system and as a result the power and ability of the engine to rpm's or power. I had this problem before, that my transmission has been stuck, but after a few days it was back in normal, but now it looks like it's stuck forever. My reverse gear is really weak.
Dustin 12-31-09 I have a 1993 Chevy C3500 with a 6. When I got it back together I put 15 quarts of tranny fluid in. First time I tried to start it after it set for a day I could tell it seemed a little sluggish, but still started. Cracked cylinder heads were a common problem once the truck had overheated. That's the problem that the transmission just jump into the 3rd and stays there and you can't shift up or down.

I change all cylanoid in the tranny. The consumer was concerned because they did not have the funds to repair the vehicle. General Comments: This truck has been a great vehicle! After running on the interstate for 40 miles i came to a stop. Remove upper covers below the steering wheel. You can pull over and cut it off then restart the engine and the transmission then starts to shift properly. When everything is normally connected? I have a 1994 caprice 9c1, I had three codes that came up involving the transmission, i replaced all the solenoids, the filter, and the fluid and ran synthetic. Other than that the transmission shifts fine and operates normally. It has 163000 miles and I just had the fluid drained, the converter and trans flushed and new fluid and filter done. A good place is the front bumper or skidplace, search for Heath Diesel they have a kit to move it. If I should replace it what are some options for motors that will bolt right to the tranny without a headache? T shop that did the work hooked up there snap-on monitor and showed me that every thing looks ok.
