If this does not fix the problem, you will have a new cluster at no charge. Sometimes it works for a while if I can get it to fall back to zero, but that doesnt last long. Had the same problem on my 03 chevy. He also stated that his speedometer and oil gauge on the instrument panel displayed incorrect improper readings. I have seen this similar condition on other models caused by the ignition switch.

Showing more than 20 mph over actual rate of speed and stuck at higher than zero when not driving. This is very unsafe to have this happen when you are driving. Almost as mystereously as they quit they started working again. Sometimes when it is taking a fit, its almost like it can't catch up, it keeps trying to work and failing and trying and failing, sometimes doing that 10 or 15 times in a just a few seconds. Not sure where to go from here, but something sure isn't right. Sometimes it is almost a bright flash while everything is failing. I see that you must have cleaned even the inside of the faceplate. Most instances can be repaired and this is included as part of the regular rebuild service. It seems like it is a connection issue. Also, the engine light illuminated.
Jul 25, 2010 There is no speedometer cable on the 2003 Yukon, if there is no transmission issues like shifting problem. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified. Is there a wiring harness somewhere that may be common to an area where are the sensors would be sending to the cluster? The approximate failure mileage was 79,000. The vehicle was not repaired. Don't hit your dash the plastic is crazy brittle in the cold.
