The 6 Series comes with the full range of active and passive safety equipment, starting with front and side-impact airbags. Interior materials and finish are generally up to standards expected in this price range. While many inspections range from a 70- to 150-point checklist, most are very similar and are performed using strict guidelines. For 2006, the contrasting color the one that's the same in all 650is, regardless of which color is selected for the seats and carpeting , has been changed from a deep gray to almost pure black. I bought approved used with 8k miles on the clock and over 12 months it's needed: - New battery - Windows stopped closing properly would auto open - Using the keys would reset idrive settings - sold from approved used dealer with 3 Buckled alloys - needed discs and pads replacing within 10,000 motorway miles - steering wheel worn so badly at 14,000 it needed replacing - exterior trim started falling off - car handelling wobbles constantly still. The central feature inside the 6 Series, at least when it comes to operating the stereo, climate controls and other systems, is iDrive. All the important controls work cohesively, making for a smooth driving experience.
The 2006 models bring a slight change in 6 Series nomenclature and more of what we like best in this car: power. We're not big fans of iDrive. Although a luxurious and relaxing cruiser with a powerful drivetrain and sporty reflexes, the 650i is hampered by the cumbersome iDrive system. It's not a four-seater, however, it's a 2+2; the rear seat might better be described as a pet or package shelf. From the rear, however, the 6 Series cannot be identified as readily.
Indeed, the new 650 engine achieves even greater specific power than its predecessor: With 9.
